Upcoming Event: Whitsundays Clipper Race Carnival 2018

If you’re a fan of celebrations, yacht carnivals and tropical coastlines that are dotted in picturesque islands in the heart of the Great Barrier Reef, then the upcoming Clipper Race Carnival in Queensland’s stunning Whitsundays might be just the event for you!

Arriving in Airlie Beach on January 13th and concluding January 29th, 2018, the Whitsundays Clipper Race Carnival is a two-week celebration comprised of regional events and activities that are set to ignite the surrounding coastline, showcasing the best of the Whitsundays as it welcomes the Clipper fleet.

Positioned in the beautiful World Heritage Listed Great Barrier Reef, Airlie Beach and the surrounding Whitsundays region provide the perfect beachy backdrop for what is sure to be a memorable event for domestic, interstate and international attendees alike.

Airlie Beach is located on Australia’s east coast; about three hours drive south of Townsville in sunny north Queensland. With a mid-January commencement date, the carnival will fall during Queensland’s popular summer and is likely to feature plenty of hot sunny days and warm nights.

During the event Airlie Beach will play host to 11 identical 70-foot ocean racing yachts, their skippers and international crew, along with thousands of supporters at what is the final stop of the Australian leg of the race.

The event highlights include a spectacular Long Lunch on one of Queensland’s most spectacular beaches – “Whitehaven” – as well as action aplenty at the Rodeo by the Reef, when the seaside meets the countryside in a bull and bronco bonanza and the streets of Airlie Beach will come alive with the Official Welcome of the Clipper Race Crew.
