Upcoming Event: Island Whale Festival 2017

Watch the annual whale migration past Phillip Island by attending the Island Whale Festival from the 7th to the 9th of July. The waters off the popular Victorian island are common homes for Humpback Whales and Southern Right Whales as they make their way north up the east coast and back south.

This festival is a comprehensive three-day itinerary within the school holidays, making it the perfect experience for families living in or visiting the region. Filled with fun, affordable events including the Cape Woolamai Cruise, Trash Puppets workshop and Ocean Trivia Dinner on day one, the Winter Whale Cruise, Whale Out Of Water edutainment event, and Wildlife and Whale Spotting Photography Workshop on day two, and the Wildlife Photography Lecture, Seal Watching Cruise and EcoBoat Cape Explorer Tour on day three.

With a mixture of free and paid attractions and events on offer as well as events that are open over the whole three days of the festival, there’s sure to be something for everyone to enjoy. Some of the permanent attractions include the free Bass Coast Whale Discovery Trail, the Whale Art Installation at Cowes Cultural Centre and the Marine Wildlife Photo Exhibition.
